Beyoncé Wins Emmy for ‘Beyoncé Bowl’ Christmas Halftime Show

Beyoncé officially became an Emmy Award winner after her halftime performance during the 2024 NFL Christmas Day game received the award for outstanding costumes for variety, nonfiction, or reality programming at the 77th annual Emmy Awards. This recognition highlights the impact of her performance, dubbed the “Beyoncé Bowl,” which took place during the Baltimore Ravens versus Houston Texans game in her hometown of Houston on December 25, 2024.
During the halftime show, Beyoncé captivated an audience of more than 27 million viewers on Netflix, as reported by CNN. She showcased tracks from her country album, “Cowboy Carter,” and was joined on stage by her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter. The event marked a significant moment in NFL history, as it took place during what became the two most-streamed games ever.
Significance of the Emmy Award
Beyoncé’s latest accolade adds to her impressive collection, which now includes a record 35 Grammy Awards. With this Emmy, she is now halfway to achieving an EGOT, a prestigious distinction awarded to only 21 individuals who have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award. The most recent addition to this exclusive group is the songwriting duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.
In addition to Beyoncé’s triumph, fellow artist Kendrick Lamar received four nominations for his Super Bowl LIX halftime performance. His nominations include outstanding variety special (live), outstanding directing for a variety special, outstanding music direction, and outstanding choreography (variety/reality).
The 77th annual Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony is scheduled for September 14, 2025. As the entertainment industry eagerly anticipates the event, Beyoncé’s accomplishment serves as a testament to her enduring influence and talent in the world of performance art.
