STV Children’s Appeal Raises £2.4 Million for Scottish Families
The STV Children’s Appeal has successfully raised a total of £2,444,119 in 2025, continuing its mission to support children and families affected by poverty across Scotland. Since its establishment in 2011, the charity has generated over £39 million to assist those in need.
This year’s fundraising efforts culminated in a live television event hosted by popular presenter Lorraine Kelly, broadcast from STV’s Pacific Quay headquarters in Glasgow. The show featured stories from individuals who have either contributed to the Appeal or benefited from its initiatives. Among the guests were the Glasgow pop duo SAINT PHNX, who discussed their Happy Place Workshop project, which provides children with a safe space to express their emotions through art and music.
Reflecting on the impact of the Appeal, Rufus Radcliffe, CEO of STV and a trustee of the Appeal, stated, “We were reminded tonight, live on STV, that the work of projects supported by the STV Children’s Appeal has a truly transformative impact on thousands of children and families right across Scotland.” He expressed gratitude for the support from the Scottish public, noting, “The unwavering generosity of the people of Scotland – our viewers, community fundraisers, corporate partners and STV colleagues – never fails to inspire us.”
The Scottish Government has been a consistent supporter of the STV Children’s Appeal since its inception, providing up to £1 million in match funding each year. First Minister John Swinney emphasized the government’s commitment to alleviating child poverty, stating, “Ending child poverty is my top priority as First Minister. Every child in Scotland deserves a decent start in life, no matter where they are from or the circumstances they’re born into.”
Swinney further affirmed the importance of the government’s contribution, saying, “I am very proud that the Scottish Government is able to support STV Children’s Appeal in improving the lives of children and families across Scotland.” This funding is aimed at ensuring that more families in challenging circumstances receive the assistance they need.
All funds raised through the Appeal are directed towards supporting children and families in Scotland. Notably, administration costs are covered by STV and a portion of donations from The Wood Foundation, which has partnered with the Appeal since 2013. This year, the foundation donated £150,000, bringing its total contributions throughout the partnership to nearly £2 million.
Garreth Wood, MBE, Chairman of The Wood Foundation, commented on their commitment, stating, “The Wood Foundation supports young people across Scotland through empowering communities. We aim to ensure everyone reaches a positive destination and their full potential.” He expressed admiration for the organizations that work to develop young people and address the root causes of child poverty.
For those wishing to contribute to the STV Children’s Appeal 2025, donations can be made through their official website at stv.tv/appeal. The live show is also available for viewing on STV Player, allowing more people to engage with the cause and learn about the important work being done to support Scotland’s children and families.
