Five North Staffordshire Pubs Recognized for Toilet Excellence

Five pubs in North Staffordshire have earned prestigious recognition for the quality and standards of their toilet facilities. All five establishments received platinum grading at the Loo of the Year Awards 2025, highlighting their commitment to cleanliness and accessibility.

The award-winning pubs include The Arnold Machin on Ironmarket in Newcastle-Under-Lyme, The Wheatsheaf on Church Street in Stoke, The Reginald Mitchell on Parliament Row in Hanley, The Poste of Stone on Granville Square in Stone, and The Picture House on Bridge Street in Stafford. These establishments were evaluated by inspectors who conducted unannounced visits to assess the quality of their toilet facilities.

Recognition for Standards and Quality

The Loo of the Year Awards aim to improve toilet standards in public venues across the UK. Inspectors grade toilets on a scale that includes bronze, silver, gold, platinum, platinum plus, or diamond, with unacceptable facilities receiving no grade. The evaluation criteria encompass aspects such as décor, cleanliness, accessibility, hand washing and drying equipment, and overall management.

Cassie Leech, manager of The Arnold Machin, expressed her pride in the award. “We are delighted with the grading. Staff at the pub ensure the toilets are in excellent condition at all times, and it is great that this has been recognised by the inspectors,” she stated.

Becky Wall, managing director of the Loo of the Year Awards 2025, commended the efforts of the awarded pubs. “The toilets at the five pubs have been designed and fitted out to a very high standard and are both clean and well maintained. The pubs deserve their gradings,” Wall noted.
