Iconic 90s TV Show House Hits Market for £1.1 Million

A house made famous by the beloved children’s television series Round the Twist has been listed for sale at £1.1 million (approximately AUD 2.3 million). This striking property, located on a clifftop near the Split Point Lighthouse in Australia, has captivated fans since its debut in 1990.

The residence frequently appeared in the series, which followed the adventures of a family living in the lighthouse. The show featured single father Tony Twist and his children, twins Linda and Pete, along with their younger brother, Bronson. The picturesque setting, with breathtaking ocean views, added to the show’s charm and appeal.

According to listing agent Marty Maher of Great Ocean Properties, the home has been in the same family for the past 85 years. He describes the property as a “steal,” especially considering its unique clifftop location. Maher noted that properties along the Victorian coast with similar views are rare.

“The views are just superb,” he explained. “Everyone walks in and goes ‘wow.’ It’s comfortable and has been a strong rental, averaging about AUD 50,000 a year. While it doesn’t need renovations, it could benefit from some cosmetic updates.”

The house boasts impressive features, including exposed ceiling beams and ample natural light. It comprises three bedrooms, one bathroom, and a spacious open-plan living area. Maher pointed out that potential buyers should be aware of restrictions on renovations due to the proximity of the historic lighthouse.

“There is a little bit of restriction about what you could do because of the sensitivity of the lighthouse,” he said. “A lot of people want to add another storey, but we don’t think that would be possible as it would distract from the lighthouse.”

Last year, the cast of Round the Twist delighted fans by reuniting for a special event in Brisbane, marking the launch of a new stage adaptation of the series. Among those present were the three actresses who portrayed Linda: Tamsin West, Joelene Crnogorac, and Ebonnie Masini.

Former cast member Jeffrey Walker, who played Bronson Twist, joined the celebration. Walker transitioned to directing after his stint on the show, working on numerous projects, including episodes of Modern Family and The Big Bang Theory spin-off, Young Sheldon.

The upcoming musical adaptation is directed by Simon Phillips and produced by Garry McQuinn, co-founder of RGM, known for Priscilla Queen of the Desert. The production promises to capture the spirit of the original series, which continues to hold a special place in the hearts of fans around the world.
