Adele Roberts, a prominent broadcaster on BBC Radio 1, has successfully undergone surgery to remove a lump from her neck. This health scare follows her diagnosis of bowel cancer in 2022, during which she had a tumour removed the following year. The 46-year-old shared the news of her recent surgery on social media, reassuring her followers that the lump was ultimately found to be benign.

The concerning lump first appeared at the start of summer and progressively increased in size. In an emotional Instagram post, Roberts described the lump as having grown into “a bit of a monster.” She expressed gratitude for the support she received from fans and friends, particularly her partner, Kate Holderness, who had been worried throughout the ordeal.

Health Journey and Positive Outlook

Roberts recounted her experience with the lump, stating, “Nobody knew what it was and it wasn’t responding to treatment.” This uncertainty prompted her to seek the expertise of a specialist, leading to the surgical removal of the lump. Reflecting on her health challenges, she noted, “With my recent health troubles and knowing you can never take anything for granted, it has been playing on my mind.”

Just before the Sydney Marathon, she was placed on the waiting list for the procedure. Despite the anxiety surrounding her health, Roberts found solace and strength through running. She remarked, “All that running helped me so much and gave me a way to channel my feelings, stay positive, and think of all the people we were raising money for.”

In a moment of jubilation, Adele announced that she received the all-clear from her doctors, stating, “I finally got my test results back today from the dermatology unit and the lump was benign! I’M ABSOLUTELY BUZZING! THANK YOU UNIVERSE!”

Encouragement for Others

Roberts emphasized the importance of seeking medical advice for any health concerns, urging her followers to take action if they face similar worries. She stated, “If you’re reading this and you’re worried about ANYTHING, please speak to someone. Early detection saves lives.”

Despite the challenges she faced, Roberts maintains a positive outlook, embracing her new scar as a symbol of resilience. “Even though I’ll have a wonky scar on my neck, I’m proud of it… and grateful,” she noted, playfully referring to it as her “newest piece of body art.”

As she looks toward the future, Adele Roberts continues to inspire her audience with her strength and determination, reminding everyone that proactive health measures can lead to life-affirming outcomes.
