Lando Norris celebrated his first Formula 1 world championship victory by partying until the early hours and ending the night with a McDonald’s breakfast. The 26-year-old driver made history as only the 11th British racer to clinch an F1 title, an achievement he marked at a lavish afterparty held at the W Hotel, which overlooks the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.

Footage from the celebration showed Norris toasting his win with friends and family while singing popular anthems like Queen’s “We are the Champions” and Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline.” Reflecting on his late-night outing, Norris shared that he left the party at 6 a.m., craving Chicken McNuggets but settling for a Sausage McMuffin instead. “Was it the breakfast of champions? Certainly not. I regretted it straightaway,” he admitted.

Norris secured his title by finishing third in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, a pivotal race that concluded a grueling 24-round season. He edged out the reigning champion, Max Verstappen, by just two points, ending Verstappen’s streak of four consecutive titles.

The final moments of the race were deeply emotional for Norris. He described the experience as a montage of his life, recalling memories from his early days karting to pivotal moments in his career. “It was like a movie,” he said. “As much as I was just trying to avoid every bump possible, I was also remembering all of those moments.”

Norris reflected on his journey as he completed the last laps, stating, “I started having these cool flashbacks. It was like a montage of my life.” He vividly remembered his mother and the emotional weight of crossing the finish line. “The best memory was when I came round the final corner and saw the chequered flag. That moment of lifting off and being able to cry was the ‘it’ moment.”

Despite reaching a significant milestone in his career, Norris emphasized that this victory will not alter his character. “From the exterior, it will change my life, but it won’t change me and how I live it,” he said. “It is cool that people will now say I am a world champion, but it won’t change who I am, and that is the most important thing.”

Norris is set to return to Abu Dhabi for a Pirelli tyre test with McLaren, continuing the work that has brought him to this point. His journey, marked by determination and a passion for racing, ensures that he remains grounded even as he joins the ranks of F1’s elite.
