New Cadbury Bournville Chocolate Bars Debut in UK Supermarkets

Shoppers in the United Kingdom are eagerly embracing two new Cadbury chocolate bars now available in supermarkets. The renowned confectionery brand, under the ownership of Mondelez International, has launched a new Bournville dark chocolate bar featuring chopped hazelnuts and a salted caramel flavor. This new addition has been spotted on shelves at Sainsbury’s and is already generating excitement among chocolate enthusiasts.
The Bournville bar, priced at £2.20, has drawn attention on social media, with customers sharing images of their finds. One user in the Food Finds UK Official Facebook group posted, “New Cadbury Bournville bar spotted in Sainsbury’s,” sparking a flurry of comments from fans eager to try the new flavor. While the product is listed on Sainsbury’s website, it is not yet available for online orders.
In an official statement, a spokesperson for Mondelez expressed enthusiasm about the launch, stating, “We’re excited to be introducing two delicious new flavors to our Cadbury Bournville range: Salted Caramel and Chopped Hazelnut.” These products are expected to be available at retailers nationwide from late July 2023 and will be a permanent addition to the brand’s offerings.
Revamped Packaging and New Flavors
The introduction of the new flavors marks a significant update for Bournville, which has not seen a packaging redesign in over 50 years. The refreshed look incorporates a modernized version of the iconic red and gold colors, reintroducing the classic ‘B’ that has been synonymous with the brand since its inception in 1908.
Valorie Doeringer, Brand Manager for Cadbury Bournville, highlighted the intent behind the new campaign. She stated, “Our first campaign in over fifty years aims to cut through the pretentiousness and complexity often associated with the dark chocolate market.” The goal is to present Cadbury Bournville as an accessible, smooth dark chocolate option that appeals to a broad audience.
In addition to the Chopped Hazelnut flavor, the range now includes a Salted Caramel variant and a straightforward dark chocolate option. This revitalization of the Bournville brand aims to attract more consumers and reignite interest in dark chocolate.
Recent Launches from Cadbury
The unveiling of the new Bournville bars comes shortly after another significant launch by Cadbury. In May 2023, the brand introduced a new Dairy Milk Iced Latte flavor, which combines classic Dairy Milk chocolate with a creamy coffee filling and crunchy biscuit pieces. Additionally, four limited-edition Dairy Milk summer bars were released, featuring packaging that changes color based on temperature.
Shoppers have also shown enthusiasm for the limited-edition Cadbury Twirl White Dipped, which resembles the traditional milk chocolate Twirl but adds a white chocolate coating. The new offerings reflect Cadbury’s strategy to continually innovate and adapt to consumer preferences in the competitive chocolate market.
As the new Bournville bars hit the shelves, customers are poised to experience a fresh take on a beloved brand, reinforcing Cadbury’s longstanding reputation as a leader in the confectionery industry. Further updates on the availability of these products across different retailers are anticipated as Mondelez International continues to expand its offerings.
