Kaleb Cooper, a prominent figure from the series Clarkson’s Farm, has shared insights into his evolving role as a father following the birth of his third child, Ashton, in August 2023. The 27-year-old farmer was in the midst of harvesting a field when he received the news that his fiancée, Taya, had gone into labor. He managed to complete his task just in time for the birth, illustrating his commitment both to his work and family.

Reflecting on the moment, Cooper said, “Because it was baby number three, Taya was so relaxed, and she rings me about one o’clock, telling me, ‘Kaleb, I’m in labour, I’ll let you know when I’m close.'” He added, “I said, ‘Well, I’ve just got this one field,’ and Taya understands this.” Their decade-long relationship has grown stronger through mutual support, as Cooper noted, “You don’t need someone nagging at you… They’ve got to be supportive all the time.”

Fatherhood and Personal Growth

Becoming a father has profoundly impacted Cooper’s outlook on life. He emphasized the importance of cherishing moments with his children: “Having kids has made me realise that it’s okay to stop for 10 minutes and just enjoy that time and make that memory with your kids.” Cooper, who is also a father to Oscar, aged four, and Willa, aged two, expressed gratitude for being able to embrace fatherhood at a young age.

Despite the demanding nature of his work, he has learned to adapt his schedule to prioritize family time. “Beforehand, I was doing 24-hour days. Now I do 18-hour days,” he explained. He prefers to work late into the night, saying, “I’d rather work until 04:00, sleep until 06:00 and then have the morning off to spend some time with the kids.” Balancing his responsibilities across work, filming, and family life has its challenges, but Cooper finds joy in the busyness. “Trying to manage work, life, filming, books, charity and kids is hard work,” he noted, “but at the same time it’s really enjoyable. I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Community Engagement and Future Aspirations

Cooper has also made significant contributions to the agricultural community. He established a bursary at the Royal Agricultural University, providing £3,000 to students from non-farming backgrounds aspiring to enter the field. Additionally, he actively engages with local schools to educate children about farming practices. Despite his dedication to agriculture, he stated, “I would be lying if I said I haven’t changed, but I have grown up… I’ve got three kids now.”

Looking ahead, Cooper aspires to purchase his own farm and has no intention of pressuring his children into the family business. “If Oscar and Willa say, ‘Look, I don’t want to be a farmer,’ that’s not a problem,” he affirmed.

He is also venturing into literature with his new book, Kaleb’s Farmyard Tales, a collection of humorous, true stories designed to entertain and educate young readers. The book features child-friendly chapters on various farm topics, including pigs, sheep, chickens, and tractors, and is illustrated by Tom Knight. Priced at £14.99, it is currently available for purchase.

Cooper’s journey through fatherhood and his commitment to the agricultural community highlight his dedication to both family and profession. As he navigates these roles, he continues to inspire those around him with his positive outlook and hard work.
