Transport for London Discloses Phone Contract Spending Figures

Transport for London (TfL) has disclosed the annual expenditure on phone contracts in response to a Freedom of Information (FOI) request. The figures, released on November 25, reveal that TfL previously spent approximately £4 million per year with O2 before switching to Vodafone in January 2022. Since the transition, the current contract has generated around £300,000 for Vodafone.

TfL stated that it withheld detailed breakdowns of the spending, citing concerns that releasing such information could “prejudice commercial interests.” According to TfL, disclosing finer details could undermine competition among phone service providers and affect its ability to negotiate favorable terms in the future.

In addition to the contract details, TfL mentioned that it invested £120,000 in a new signal booster, although it did not disclose the specific location of this installation.
