Jess Glynne Explains Absence During Alex Scott’s I’m A Celebrity Exit
Musician Jess Glynne has revealed the deeply personal reason for her absence during partner Alex Scott‘s elimination from the reality show, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! on Friday night. As Scott made her exit after a challenging live Bushtucker trial, Glynne was not present to greet her, leaving fans puzzled and disappointed.
Alex Scott, a 41-year-old sports presenter and former professional footballer, faced elimination following a tough trial alongside fellow contestants, including Jack Osbourne and Kelly Brook. Ultimately, Scott and Brook found themselves in the bottom two, with Scott’s journey in the jungle coming to an end. Viewers had anticipated a reunion at the iconic bridge, but were met with Glynne’s absence.
Following the episode, Glynne addressed her followers on social media, expressing pride in Scott’s performance despite the early exit. “My woman might be out far earlier than she ever deserved, but I’m so unbelievably proud of her,” Glynne shared on her Instagram stories. She went on to point out that Scott had not received adequate airtime to showcase her capabilities, emphasizing that this was just the beginning of her journey.
The reason for Glynne’s absence became clear when she revealed that her mother had recently suffered a major stroke, necessitating urgent brain surgery. Glynne explained, “It’s been a really serious, life-altering time for my family, and I’ve had to stay close to home. Alex would always want me to be where I’m needed most.” This heartfelt explanation resonated with fans, many of whom had initially expressed confusion and disappointment over the lack of a reunion.
Some viewers had speculated about a possible proposal during Scott’s exit, as Alex previously hinted at her hopes for an engagement. Just last week, she mentioned during an interview with Ruby Wax that she was “just waiting” for Glynne to propose, adding a layer of anticipation for fans. Glynne humorously responded to this on her Instagram, stating, “I better go get a ring.”
As Scott departed the jungle, she reflected on her experience, admitting to hosts Ant and Dec that she had smuggled salt into the camp for added seasoning. “Maybe I got too confident,” she admitted, recalling how her campmates were in on her secret. Scott also expressed her desire to see former EastEnders star Shona McGarty win the season, believing it would boost her confidence.
Glynne and Scott, who went public with their relationship in October 2023, have been supportive of each other’s careers. A source close to the couple remarked, “They are both strong, independent women with a shared passion and respect for their respective careers, supporting one another from the sidelines.”
As viewers eagerly await the next episode of I’m A Celebrity, which returns tonight at 21:00 on ITV1, the anticipation for Glynne and Scott’s future together continues to grow, underscored by the challenges they both face in their personal lives.
