Rockstar Games has announced an upgraded version of its iconic title, Red Dead Redemption, set to launch on multiple platforms, including PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and mobile devices on December 2, 2023. The long-anticipated update will also include the beloved expansion, Undead Nightmare, bringing the classic western adventure to a new generation of gamers.

In a statement released on November 13, Rockstar revealed that this upgraded edition was developed in collaboration with Double Eleven and Cast Iron Games. This marks the first time Red Dead Redemption will be available on Android and iOS, expanding its reach to mobile users. Notably, Netflix subscribers can access the game free of charge as part of their subscription, allowing a broader audience to experience this classic title.

The upgraded version promises significant enhancements, including a smooth 60 frames per second (FPS), improved image quality, and support for high dynamic range (HDR) visuals. Additionally, the Switch 2 will introduce mouse control capabilities, enhancing gameplay for those using the console.

For players who already own Red Dead Redemption on PS4, Xbox One, or Switch, Rockstar is offering a free upgrade to the new version when it launches. This initiative is part of the company’s effort to maintain strong connections with its fan base.

This announcement comes on the heels of Rockstar’s recent decision to delay the release of Grand Theft Auto VI from May 2026 to November 2026. The studio emphasized that the delay aims to ensure the game meets the high standards players expect, avoiding the pitfalls of a problematic launch, as seen with titles like Cyberpunk 2077.

With the upgraded version of Red Dead Redemption and its expansion, Undead Nightmare, scheduled for release in just a few weeks, anticipation is building among fans eager to revisit this classic in a new light.
