Belfast Opens Santa’s Post Office as 10,000 Letters Set for North Pole
The largest Santa’s Post Office has officially opened in Belfast, with expectations to send over 10,000 letters to the North Pole this holiday season. Located at 2 Royal Avenue, the festive attraction will operate from November 16 to December 21, 2023, offering visitors a range of free holiday activities aimed at creating a magical experience for families.
Upon entering the Post Office, visitors are greeted with enchanting decorations and the chance to take photos with Santa’s Sleigh. Children can immerse themselves in the Christmas spirit through interactive features, such as a special sensory wall that enhances the festive atmosphere. Santa’s elves are available to assist children in writing their letters, along with hosting arts and crafts sessions.
The event will also cater to families needing a quieter experience. Belfast One, the organization behind this initiative, has scheduled two quiet evenings on December 3 and December 17. These ticketed events are designed to provide a calm environment for children who may be overwhelmed in busier settings. Additionally, a British Sign Language (BSL) evening is planned for December 10, ensuring inclusivity for all families. Tickets for these special evenings are free and can be reserved via belfastone.co.uk.
As the holiday season approaches, Belfast city centre is adorned with new lighting installations and the festive atmosphere will be further enhanced by the opening of the Christmas Market. The Santa Parade hosted by CastleCourt will traverse Royal Avenue, while Victoria Square invites families to experience the magic of Christmas with train rides to Santa’s Grotto.
Martina Connolly, CEO of Belfast One BID, expressed enthusiasm about the festivities, stating, “Our city centre truly lights up at Christmas, not only with twinkling lights and festive spirit, but with plenty of free family fun, beautiful décor and Christmas experiences thanks to our incredible businesses, shopping centres, retailers and restaurants.”
Connolly highlighted the increased demand for festive activities, noting, “At 2 Royal Avenue, Santa’s Post Office is bigger and better this year, aiming to meet the huge demand we have experienced in recent years. Santa has sent his elves to help children put pen to paper, and we’re expecting over 10,000 letters to Santa to magically make their way to the North Pole, with all of their wishes for Christmas Day.”
This year’s Santa’s Post Office promises to be a delightful destination, welcoming families to participate in a completely free event leading up to Christmas, reinforcing Belfast’s reputation as a vibrant hub for holiday celebrations.
