Leicestershire County Council Selects Jane Moore as Chief Executive
Leicestershire County Council has announced its preferred candidate for the role of chief executive, selecting Jane Moore, the current director of children and family services. This decision follows the announcement by John Sinnott, the current council leader, that he will retire from his position. The recruitment process concluded this month, paving the way for Moore’s potential appointment.
Approval Pending for New Leadership
The full council will meet on December 3, 2024, to approve the appointment of Moore. If approved, she will officially take over the role on December 4, 2024. The council expressed confidence in Moore, noting her value within the corporate management team and her strong rapport with both staff and families in the region.
Moore’s leadership of children’s services has been particularly noteworthy. Under her guidance, the department achieved an Outstanding rating from Ofsted last year, a testament to her commitment to improving the welfare of children and families in Leicestershire. Dan Harrison, the Leader of the Council, praised Moore’s track record, stating, “Jane’s appointment is testament to the hard work and leadership she has already demonstrated at Leicestershire County Council.”
Experience and Vision for the Future
Throughout her career, Moore has focused on supporting vulnerable children and families, a priority that aligns with the council’s goals. Harrison emphasized that her extensive knowledge and approach will be crucial as the council strives to enhance efficiency and implement significant changes, including local government reorganisation.
As John Sinnott prepares to step down, he will remain in his role until the council’s meeting, ensuring a smooth transition for his successor. The upcoming decision will be pivotal for the leadership of Leicestershire County Council, as it seeks to continue its commitment to the community under new guidance.
The council’s decision to consider Moore as the preferred candidate reflects a strategic choice aimed at maintaining momentum in delivering vital services to the people of Leicestershire.
