Barcelona Unveils Fourth Kit Honoring Iconic 2005 Clásico Victory
FC Barcelona has unveiled their new fourth alternate kit, celebrating a historic match that took place two decades ago. The release of this jersey, adorned with the tagline “Football is Art,” pays homage to the club’s impressive 3-0 victory over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu on November 19, 2005. This game is remembered as one of the finest performances in modern football history.
The new kit features a design that retains the traditional elements of a Barcelona home shirt but reinterprets the iconic stripes. These jagged stripes symbolize the dynamic runs made by Samuel Eto’o and Ronaldinho as they navigated through the Madrid defense that night. Eto’o opened the scoring in the 14th minute, followed by two remarkable goals from Ronaldinho in the 58th and 77th minutes. The second goal, in particular, brought a standing ovation from the home crowd, a rare acknowledgment for a rival player in such a charged atmosphere.
In that match, despite not dominating possession, Barcelona showcased their attacking prowess, ultimately extending their lead at the top of La Liga. Under the management of Frank Rijkaard, the team demonstrated a blend of skill and resilience that solidified their legacy. Ronaldinho’s performance not only earned him accolades during the match but also contributed to him winning the Ballon d’Or just days later.
The collar of the new jersey features the precise minutes of all three goals as a unique tribute to that unforgettable night. Eto’o finished the 2005-2006 season as Barcelona’s top scorer, narrowly ahead of Ronaldinho in total goals across all competitions. This victory also served as a launchpad for Barcelona’s successful campaign, finishing 12 points clear of Real Madrid in the league and culminating in a win against Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League final in Paris.
As Barcelona fans don this new kit, they will not only be celebrating a beautiful piece of football history but also wearing a symbol of the artistry and passion that the club embodies.
