Police Arrest Two in Podgorica Drug Bust, Seize Substantial Quantity

Police in Podgorica apprehended two individuals suspected of street drug dealing during a raid on October 24, 2023. The operation aimed to combat the illegal drug trade in the city, as officers executed a court-ordered search of an apartment used by P.V., a 22-year-old man. Alongside him, authorities also found B.Š., also aged 22, at the scene.

The search yielded significant quantities of illegal substances. Authorities seized two packages of cocaine, seven packages containing marijuana, and four packages with a total of 145 pieces of synthetic drugs known as ecstasy. In addition, police found a hand-rolled cigarette containing marijuana, a precision scale used for weighing drugs, and various items typically associated with drug packaging.

According to a statement from the Police Directorate, the operation was part of ongoing efforts to dismantle local drug networks and curb street-level drug sales. Following the collection of evidence, P.V. was detained on the orders of the state prosecutor from the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica. He faces serious charges related to the unauthorized production, possession, and distribution of narcotics, as well as facilitating drug use.

This incident highlights the ongoing challenges authorities face in combating drug trafficking and usage in Montenegro. The police remain committed to their mission of ensuring community safety and reducing the availability of illicit drugs on the streets.
