Young Driver Faces 30 Days in Jail for Ignoring Police Orders
A 20-year-old man from Herceg Novi received two separate sentences totaling 30 days in prison after defying police orders in Tivat and Kotor within a span of just 24 hours. The decisions were handed down by the Budva Court for Misdemeanors, highlighting the serious consequences of reckless driving and failure to comply with law enforcement directives.
On November 29, 2025, the defendant, identified as M. M., was found guilty of not stopping at a stop sign indicated by police officers in Tivat. The following day, he again failed to heed a police stop signal in Kotor, this time driving at a speed of 112 kilometers per hour in a zone where the limit is 50 kilometers per hour.
In addition to the prison sentences, the court imposed a monetary fine and an eight-month driving ban. The maximum number of penalty points was also assigned, which will be enforced by the police once the court ruling becomes final.
Judge Jelena Stanišić presided over the case and emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic laws and police instructions. The case serves as a reminder of the legal repercussions associated with reckless behavior on the road, particularly when it endangers public safety.
These recent rulings underscore the commitment of local authorities to enforce traffic regulations rigorously. The swift judicial response to M. M.’s actions reflects a broader initiative to maintain order and safety on the roads of Montenegro.
