Coleen Nolan and her son, Shane Nolan, have candidly discussed Shane’s ongoing battle with drug addiction. This revelation comes after a tumultuous period for Shane, marked by the breakdown of his marriage to Maddie Wahdan, which ended after just 17 months and was heavily influenced by infidelity claims. The conversation took place on a recent episode of Coleen’s YouTube channel, where she revealed the profound impact Shane’s struggles have had on their family.

During the episode, the 60-year-old television personality highlighted the contrast between Shane’s public persona and his private challenges. While he appears cheerful on camera, Coleen noted that he has faced significant issues with addiction behind the scenes. She addressed Shane directly, stating, “It might be a great high for however long but you were broke, you got into a lot of debt, as everyone does with addiction. Relationships, you f****d your marriage basically.”

Shane, 36, attributed part of his addiction to the pressures of his work. He described a demanding schedule that often led to “three-day benders.” In his own words, he stated, “The constant moving, the travelling all of the time, having to be on stage until 23:00, so the only way to pick yourself up is to [do drugs].”

In a moment of vulnerability, Coleen shared a particularly harrowing experience that escalated her fears for Shane’s safety. She recounted, “I remember when the time came that you passed out and split your head open early in the morning.” This incident, which required several staples in Shane’s head, marked a pivotal moment for Coleen. She expressed her deep concern, stating, “If this doesn’t wake him up, he will, I kept saying, ‘He’s going to die.'”

The emotional toll of Shane’s addiction weighed heavily on Coleen. She revealed her feelings of guilt and failure as a mother, saying, “From a mother’s point of view, I just felt I’d done something wrong. I really blamed me for all of it.” Despite external pressures to intervene, she struggled with how to support her son during his darkest times.

Fortunately, Shane has made significant strides in his recovery, aided by rehabilitation and a new relationship with Kimberly Sallis. Coleen expressed her relief at his progress, noting that he is now “nicer” and that she previously dreaded his visits. As Shane prepares to welcome a new baby with Kimberly, the family is hopeful for a brighter future.

Coleen’s decision to share Shane’s story is motivated by a desire to help others facing similar struggles. She believes that openness can foster understanding and support. Resources for individuals dealing with addiction are available online, including support from organizations such as Mind.org.uk and TalkToFrank.com.

In sharing their journey, the Nolans hope to inspire those in similar situations to seek help and to remind families that they are not alone in their battles.
