Three-Vehicle Collision on A14 Near Newmarket Causes Delays
A three-vehicle collision on the A14 near Newmarket caused significant delays for drivers on the morning of August 15, 2023. The incident, which involved a lorry, a van, and a car, occurred at approximately 09:10 local time at junction 37, near the Newmarket bypass in Suffolk.
Emergency services, including firefighters, ambulance teams, and police officers, were dispatched to the scene. A spokesperson for Suffolk Police confirmed the details of the crash, stating, “We were called at 9.10am to a collision on the A14 eastbound near Exning and Snailwell. The crash involved a car, a van, and a lorry. There are not believed to be any life-threatening or life-changing injuries.”
As a result of the collision, one lane was blocked, leading to increased traffic congestion. According to Cambridgeshire County Council, drivers faced delays extending up to two miles. Authorities advised motorists to allow extra time for their journeys while the situation was being managed.
