Manchester City Fan Tragically Found Dead Before Champions League Match
A devoted Manchester City fan, Guy Bradshaw, was found dead in his apartment in Benidorm, Spain, just hours before the team’s Champions League match against Villarreal on October 21, 2023. The 35-year-old had traveled to Spain to support his team, but his sudden passing has left his family and friends in shock.
His friend discovered Guy’s body, and while the cause of death is still under investigation, it has been reported that authorities found no suspicious circumstances. This tragic event has raised significant concern among fans and prompted an outpouring of grief from the community.
In an effort to assist with the financial burdens resulting from this unexpected loss, a GoFundMe campaign has been initiated to cover the costs of repatriating Guy’s body, his funeral expenses, and support for his 12-year-old daughter. The family faces considerable challenges, as Guy had booked his trip at the last minute and did not have travel insurance.
Family and Friends Remember a Loyal Fan
Guy’s father, Martin Bradshaw, was en route to the match when he received the devastating news. He shared his gratitude for the support received from the Manchester City community, stating, “A lot of people have bad words for social media but the lovely messages, lovely pictures… are touching and give me comfort.” He also acknowledged the assistance from the club, saying, “I don’t know what I would have done without them.”
Family members described Guy as a gentle man who cherished his daughter and was known for his unwavering support of Manchester City. His cousin stated that his sudden death has left the family feeling “empty,” highlighting the profound impact Guy had on those around him.
Tributes Pour In from the Football Community
Manchester City released a statement expressing their condolences, stating, “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Guy Bradshaw, a City supporter who tragically died in Spain before the Club’s match against Villarreal last night.” The statement concluded with the heartfelt message, “Once a Blue, Always a Blue,” reflecting the strong bond within the fan community.
