Nottingham Forest Faces Injury Challenges Ahead of Brighton Clash

Nottingham Forest will likely be without several key players as they prepare to face Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League this Sunday at 14:05. Head coach Sean Dyche will aim to build on the team’s recent momentum, following a convincing victory against Malmo that marked their third consecutive win across all competitions.

The injury list remains a concern for Forest, with Morgan Gibbs-White expected to return from a back issue, while Chris Wood (knee), Dilane Bakwa (hamstring), and several others are still sidelined. Dyche provided an update on the squad’s recovery during a press conference, stating, “I think it is unlikely [to have injured players back]. They are making good progress. Two or three of them are probably slightly advanced to where we thought they would be.”

Wood, who has not yet played under Dyche since his appointment, recently underwent a scan to assess his knee injury. The New Zealand international is currently in a “settling down period.” Dyche explained, “It is just a tricky knee injury that needs time. There is nothing we can do to fast forward it at the moment. He is feeling better in himself.”

Bakwa, who joined Forest from Strasbourg in the summer, has made only five appearances and has been out since October 5 due to a hamstring injury. Dyche noted that Bakwa is showing signs of improvement, stating, “He has been back on the grass and is making a good recovery now. He is over his injury but now it is about improving his base fitness levels.”

In a more positive development, defender Murillo is expected to be fit for the match against Brighton despite appearing uncomfortable during a recent game. Dyche commented, “We think he will be fine. I will find out more but at the moment he should be fine.”

The upcoming match against Brighton is particularly significant for Nottingham Forest fans, as it recalls their impressive 7-0 victory over the Seagulls in the same fixture last season. Dyche emphasized that while that performance was remarkable, his players will not dwell on past results. “It’s not easy in the Premier League, but our players won’t be thinking about that on Sunday,” he said.

As Forest gears up for this crucial encounter, the health of the squad remains a focal point, with supporters eager to see how the team will perform against a strong Brighton side. The match promises to be an exciting contest, with both teams looking to secure vital points in the Premier League standings.
