Bruno Fernandes Rejects Al Nassr’s £100 Million Transfer Bid

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has turned down a lucrative transfer offer from Al Nassr, reportedly worth £100 million. The proposal, which was aimed at reuniting Fernandes with former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, came after discussions earlier this summer regarding a move to Al-Hilal, a rival club in the Saudi Pro League.
Discussions between Fernandes’ representative, Miguel Pinho, and Al-Hilal were serious enough for the player to consider relocating to the Middle East. However, after weighing the option and consulting with his family, Fernandes ultimately decided to remain at Manchester United as the new season approaches.
While Al Nassr did reach out through intermediaries to explore the possibility of signing the Portuguese midfielder, no formal approach was made to Manchester United. Fernandes is preparing to continue his career under coach Ruben Amorim, having clarified his reasons for staying at Old Trafford during a statement made in June.
In his own words, Fernandes noted, “There was an opportunity. The president called me and asked if I wanted to go there. They were waiting for me. I spoke to coach [Ruben] Amorim. He asked me not to go.” He further emphasized that Manchester United did not wish to sell him, stating, “They don’t need the money. If I had wanted to leave, they would have made it happen.”
Fernandes acknowledged that Al-Hilal was kind in their approach, engaging with his agent before he consulted with his wife about the potential move. “It would have been easy to move there. I know the Portuguese players there very well. But I want to play at the highest level and compete for major titles,” he explained.
Since joining Manchester United from Sporting CP in January 2020, Fernandes has made a significant impact, scoring 98 goals and providing 86 assists across all competitions. His current contract with the club runs until June 2027, further solidifying his commitment to the team as they embark on a new season.
As Manchester United gears up for the upcoming campaign, Fernandes’ decision to stay reflects his ambition to continue competing at the highest levels of football. The club and its supporters will undoubtedly welcome his leadership on the pitch as they aim for success in both domestic and international competitions.
