Coventry Nursery Achieves ‘Good’ Rating in Ofsted Turnaround
A nursery in Coventry has successfully improved its Ofsted rating to ‘Good’, just four months after receiving an ‘Inadequate’ assessment. Tiddlers Nursery, located at the former Wyken Parish Hall on Wyken Croft, has been a part of the community since 2019. Following an inspection in April 2023 that raised concerns about the safety and well-being of children, a mandatory re-inspection was conducted in August 2023, leading to a significant turnaround.
The Ofsted report, published last week, evaluated Tiddlers Nursery’s overall effectiveness as ‘Good’. The report highlighted several areas of success, including the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management, all receiving commendable ratings.
Positive Reception and Engaging Environment
According to the latest Ofsted findings, children at Tiddlers Nursery are greeted warmly by staff upon arrival. The report noted that staff actively engage with children, inviting them to share experiences from home. This welcoming atmosphere encourages children to settle in quickly, evident as they eagerly hang up their coats and prepare for their day.
The report states, “Children sail the ‘Tiddlers C’s’ to become confident, curious and caring with a strong sense of self.” This reflects the nursery’s commitment to fostering a nurturing environment where children feel secure and motivated to learn.
Staff at Tiddlers have cultivated a stimulating setting that ignites children’s natural curiosity. They implement a varied and exciting curriculum tailored to all children, which is shared with parents along with suggestions for extending learning at home.
Strong Role Models and Encouragement
The report underscores the positive influence of staff members, who serve as effective role models. They emphasize the importance of sharing, taking turns, and kindness, providing gentle reminders as needed throughout the day.
By offering praise and encouragement, staff build children’s confidence and self-esteem. The use of facial expressions helps convey to younger children that they are performing well, contributing to an atmosphere where children feel safe and secure.
Overall, the improvements at Tiddlers Nursery demonstrate a strong commitment to child welfare and education. The successful re-inspection reflects the dedication of the staff to creating a positive learning environment that supports the developmental needs of the children in their care.
