A new wellness studio, SOSA, has officially opened its doors in Gosforth, Newcastle, creating a unique destination that merges traditional yoga with modern holistic therapies. Founded by local entrepreneur Emma Cutting, SOSA aims to provide more than just yoga classes; it serves as a community hub focused on balance, healing, and self-discovery.

The studio offers a diverse range of practices designed to help individuals reconnect with themselves and explore the benefits of holistic health. From energising vinyasa flows to restorative yin sessions, SOSA incorporates a variety of therapies including reiki, massage, sound therapy evenings, and cacao ceremonies. This eclectic mix positions SOSA as a go-to location for anyone seeking to enhance their wellbeing and fitness.

Emma Cutting, who has dedicated herself to creating a nurturing environment, stated, “SOSA has been a true passion project. When I first discovered yoga, I needed a space that felt safe, supportive and welcoming, somewhere I could explore without judgement.” She emphasised that SOSA is not just about movement on the mat but about fostering a community where individuals can learn, grow, and reconnect.

Emma’s personal journey significantly influenced the studio’s ethos. Following a diagnosis of a dissociative disorder a decade ago, she faced a choice between conventional medication and alternative healing. Opting for the latter, Emma immersed herself in meditation and holistic practices, eventually training as a yoga teacher and holistic therapist. Her travels to India, Bali, and Vietnam enriched her understanding and practice of yoga.

Classes and Community Focus

At SOSA, teaching styles cater to a variety of needs, ensuring that every student finds the right fit for their personal journey. The studio is designed with earthy tones, calming lighting, and the soothing scents of essential oils and incense, creating an inviting atmosphere.

Open seven days a week, class schedules are tailored to accommodate busy lifestyles. For newcomers, Emma introduced a special “New to SOSA” offer, allowing unlimited classes for £30 for a period of 21 days. This initiative encourages clients to explore different teachers, styles, and therapies to find what resonates most with them.

To maintain an intimate learning environment, classes are limited to just eight participants. In addition, one-to-one sessions and private bookings for events such as hen parties or team retreats are available.

Emma remarked, “The demands on people today are higher than ever. I want SOSA to be a space where people can truly switch off, invest in themselves, and feel supported. Whether you’re stepping on the mat for the first time or deepening your practice, my hope is that everyone leaves SOSA feeling more balanced, whatever that looks like for them.”

Future Aspirations for SOSA

Looking ahead, Emma has ambitious plans for SOSA, with aspirations to expand across the North East and potentially integrate the studio’s ethos into the corporate world. Her vision aims to extend the benefits of yoga and holistic practices beyond the studio and into workplaces, promoting overall wellness and balance.
