British Tourist Found Dead in Majorca Hotel Pool
A British tourist tragically drowned in a hotel swimming pool in S’Illot, Majorca, early on the morning of August 15, 2023. The 52-year-old man, whose identity has not been publicly disclosed, was discovered face down in the water shortly after 8:30 AM local time. Paramedics were promptly dispatched to the scene, which is located near the popular Love Island villa.
Emergency Medical Organisation (SAMU) reported that the tourist was found floating in the pool. Basic resuscitation efforts were initiated immediately by hotel staff until ambulances arrived. Tragically, upon arrival, medical personnel confirmed that he had suffered a cardiac arrest. Despite extensive attempts to revive him, he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
The Civil Guard has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. They confirmed that the deceased was British, although they initially reported his age as 72, which conflicted with earlier information from emergency responders stating he was 52.
It remains unclear whether the man was travelling alone or accompanied by friends or family. Authorities are gathering further information to piece together the events leading to this unfortunate incident.
As the investigation unfolds, the hotel has not been identified, and additional details surrounding the tourist’s stay are still pending. The local community and authorities express condolences for the family and friends affected by this tragic event.
