Kia PV5 Cargo Secures Top Five-Star Rating in Euro NCAP Assessment
Kia’s PV5 Cargo has earned a prestigious five-star rating in the 2025 Euro NCAP Commercial Van Safety assessment. This recognition underscores the vehicle’s commitment to providing safe and reliable electric mobility for commercial users across Europe.
Exceptional Safety Performance
According to Euro NCAP, the PV5 Cargo demonstrated robust performance in key evaluation categories, including occupant protection, safety assist and crash avoidance, as well as post-crash safety. This achievement places the PV5 Cargo among the safest commercial vans in Europe and continues Kia’s impressive track record, following similar accolades for its EV6 in 2022, EV9 in 2023, and EV3 in 2025.
Sangdae Kim, Executive Vice President and Head of Kia’s PBV Business Division, remarked, “The PV5 opens a new chapter in practical, electrified mobility, offering generous space and modular versatility for everyday use. Achieving the top Euro NCAP five-star rating is clear validation of its safety performance and will serve as strong momentum as Kia expands its PBV lineup across Europe.”
Advanced Safety Technologies
The Euro NCAP assessment highlighted the PV5’s standard Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) with Forward Collision Warning (FCW). This system effectively detects pedestrians, cyclists, and other vehicles, demonstrating impressive responsiveness in various scenarios, including high-speed vehicle-to-vehicle interactions. The PV5 Cargo avoided collisions in most pedestrian and cyclist test cases, further enhancing overall safety.
Additional safety features include the Lane Support System (LSS), which was praised for its gentle steering corrections and decisive interventions to prevent unintended road departures. Euro NCAP rated the overall performance of the LSS as “good.” Furthermore, the Speed Assistance System (SAS) utilizes digital maps and a forward-facing camera to identify local speed limits, providing clear information to drivers for effective speed management. A seatbelt reminder for both front seats enhances compliance with safety regulations.
This recognition from Euro NCAP reinforces Kia’s commitment to safety and innovation in the commercial vehicle sector. The PV5 Cargo’s combination of advanced safety features and practical design positions it as a leader in the growing market for electric commercial vehicles.
