Humanoid Robot Achieves World Record by Walking 100 km Unassisted
A humanoid robot developed by the Chinese company Agibot Innovation has set a new world record by walking 106.286 km (approximately 62.1371 miles) without assistance. This remarkable feat took place over a three-day period from November 10 to 13, 2025, marking a significant milestone in robotics and artificial intelligence.
The Agibot A2, which stands at 1.75 meters (about 5 feet 7 inches) tall and weighs 121 pounds, was designed to navigate complex environments. It utilizes an array of advanced technologies, including GPS, lidar, and infrared depth cameras, allowing it to understand and react to its surroundings effectively. The robot’s endurance was tested in real-world conditions as it traveled from Suzhou to Shanghai, encountering challenges such as street crossings, traffic, and potholes.
Prior to this achievement, the Agibot A2 underwent rigorous optimization from April to May 2025 to ensure stability during locomotion. Its capabilities were further demonstrated during a 24-hour test walk on August 17, where it successfully operated in temperatures reaching 104°F (40°C). The event was broadcast live, showcasing the robot’s impressive endurance.
The goal of this ambitious project was to determine how far the humanoid robot could walk unassisted. The successful completion of the 100 km walk has earned the Agibot A2 a Guinness World Record, a significant recognition for both the robot and Agibot Innovation. In a lighthearted post-marathon press conference, the robot humorously remarked about needing a new pair of shoes after its extensive journey.
As robotics technology continues to advance, the emergence of humanoid robots on the market has sparked interest among consumers. Companies are increasingly developing models designed for everyday tasks, making robotics more accessible. While many of these robots are still in early development stages, their growing capabilities have captured public attention and enthusiasm.
This achievement not only highlights the progress in robotic technology but also reflects the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence. As AI becomes more integrated into various sectors, including creative fields, the expectations for human skills and capabilities are evolving. Employers are now prioritizing applicants’ artistic skills over reliance on AI-generated work, underscoring the ongoing dialogue about the role of technology in society.
The successful 100 km walk by the Agibot A2 represents a significant leap forward in the field of robotics, demonstrating the potential for humanoid machines to take on complex tasks autonomously. This record-setting event is a testament to the innovation and dedication of the teams working in the robotics industry, paving the way for future advancements in humanoid technology.
