Charity Art Sale Raises £12,860 for Local Causes

The recent charity art sale, known as The Secret Artist Sale, achieved remarkable success, raising a total of £12,860 for three local charities. The event, hosted by The Soden Collection in Wyle Cop, featured over 200 pieces of original artwork contributed by well-known regional artists and creators from across the UK.

Event organiser Jonathan Soden expressed his excitement about the overwhelming response to the sale, stating, “There was an overwhelming response to this, our third Secret Artist Sale, and we were thrilled to be able to hand over £12,860 to charity – an amazing amount.” The atmosphere at the sale was vibrant, with attendees queuing overnight to secure their chance to purchase artwork. Soden noted, “There was a fabulous atmosphere, with everyone pleased to be part of such an innovative art sale.”

The unique format of the sale involved all artwork being A5 size, signed on the reverse, and available for a uniform price of £50. Buyers had the opportunity to acquire exceptional pieces at a fraction of their usual market value, as the identity of the artists remained a mystery until after the purchase. All proceeds from the sale went towards supporting three important causes: The HIve, Grinshill Animal Rescue, and the Alzheimer’s Society.

The event garnered sponsorship from Halls Fine Art and received additional support from Callaghan Framing, Belle Vue Arts Festival, and retailer Oberon. This collaborative effort not only highlighted the talents of various artists but also demonstrated the community’s commitment to supporting essential local services.

With such a successful turnout, The Secret Artist Sale has established itself as a significant event in the region’s cultural calendar. The funds raised will directly benefit local charities, making a positive impact on the community.
