Policewoman’s Misconduct Hearing Reveals Disturbing Allegations
A misconduct hearing for North Wales Police is currently addressing serious allegations against PC Pamela Pritchard, who is accused of inappropriate behavior at a leaving party last year. The incident, which took place at a rugby club in Caernarfon in March 2022, has raised concerns regarding her conduct as a probationary police officer.
During the hearing held in Colwyn Bay, PC Pritchard admitted to having “no recollection” of the events from that night, stating, “Everything is quite a blur. I remember snippets from the night.” Despite her claims of sobriety, she has been accused of squeezing a colleague’s breasts and attempting to kiss an inspector.
According to testimony from a fellow officer, known as PC A, Pritchard allegedly approached her from behind on the dance floor, put her arms under her armpits, and squeezed her breasts. In response, PC Pritchard denied the allegations, asserting, “I would never sexually assault anyone. I didn’t sexually assault her. I am not a lesbian.”
The emotional toll of the incident was evident as PC Pritchard expressed distress over the accusations. She revealed that after her arrest, “I really, really struggled. I have had nightmares.” She conveyed feelings of isolation, stating, “I felt like people thought I was a sexual predator.”
As the hearing progressed, Jonathan Landau, counsel for the police complaints authority, questioned PC Pritchard about the alleged incidents. He suggested that her behavior was a result of intoxication, to which she firmly replied, “I deny that.” Furthermore, she acknowledged kissing another officer, PC B, but maintained that any contact with him was consensual.
In a troubling admission, PC Pritchard was reported to have made explicit comments to a male colleague, saying she wanted to “f—” him. While acknowledging that this was inappropriate, she defended her actions by stating, “I have been drunk in the past and not acted like this.”
Prior to her appointment with the police, PC Pritchard worked as a health care assistant and prison officer at HMP Berwyn in Wrexham. She expressed a genuine desire to help others, stating, “The police was the only thing I wanted to do. Mental health is very close to my heart.”
PC Pritchard, who also coached rugby at the community level, expressed remorse over the allegations. “My behaviour that evening was inappropriate. I have never acted like that before. I am absolutely mortified by the allegations. It’s not who I am,” she claimed.
The hearing is ongoing, with her lawyer, Fiona Clancy, arguing that PC Pritchard does not believe her actions constitute gross misconduct and denies any intentional sexual contact.
As the proceedings continue, the implications of these allegations pose significant questions regarding professional conduct within the police force and the impact of such incidents on the individuals involved.
