Sesko Set for Manchester United Return from Injury, Agent Confirms
Benjamin Sesko is on track to make his return to Manchester United following a knee injury, according to his agent, Elvis Basanovic. The 22-year-old forward, who has been sidelined since November 8, 2023, is eager to demonstrate his abilities at Old Trafford after missing four games during his recovery.
Sesko sustained his injury during a 2-2 draw while playing for United, which has hindered his ability to contribute to the team under the guidance of coach Ruben Amorim. The summer signing, valued at £74 million ($98 million), has managed to score twice in 11 Premier League matches this season. His absence is compounded by the expected departures of fellow forwards ahead of next week’s match at Old Trafford.
Basanovic shared insights on Sesko’s rehabilitation, noting that the player is making significant progress. “Benjamin is feeling very good, his rehab is going as planned,” he told Slovenian broadcaster Arena Sport. “He’s really eager to return to the pitch — he misses playing.”
While the timeline for Sesko’s return remains uncertain, Basanovic is optimistic. “It’s hard to say exactly [when he will return], that will be more up to the medical team and the coach. But I think we’ll see him very soon on the field, perhaps even sooner than it might seem at this moment.”
Support from Coach and Team Dynamics
Sesko joined Manchester United during a significant overhaul of the team’s attacking lineup, alongside other forwards such as Bryan Mbeumo. Despite his slow start in terms of scoring, Basanovic emphasized that Amorim has fully supported Sesko, highlighting the coach’s character. “I must say he [Amorim] received Benjamin excellently,” Basanovic stated.
He further praised Amorim’s leadership, describing him as a “fantastic” and “emotionally intelligent” individual who understands the complexities of building a successful team. “It’s extremely difficult to explain in a big club because nobody wants to give you time at Manchester United and similar clubs because everyone wants immediate results,” Basanovic reflected.
The agent pointed out that players like Sesko, Mbeumo, and others need time to develop chemistry on the field. “They have played very few matches together, and I think that they especially need games to develop an understanding,” he explained.
As Manchester United continues to navigate this transitional period, the return of Sesko could provide a much-needed boost to the squad’s attacking options. Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely as the player edges towards a comeback that could impact United’s performance in the Premier League.
The anticipation surrounding Sesko’s return highlights not just his individual potential, but also the broader challenges faced by teams at the elite level, where the pressure for immediate success often clashes with the need for patience in development.
