Vladimir Mihailović Dominates as MVP in ABA League’s Ninth Round
Vladimir Mihailović has been recognized as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the ninth round of the ABA League following an outstanding performance for Zadar. The 35-year-old guard led his team to a decisive victory against Beč with a score of 98-78, scoring an impressive 42 points. His remarkable game included seven successful three-pointers out of nine attempts, along with three rebounds and two assists, earning him a utility index rating of 42.
Mihailović’s performance places him as the second-highest scorer in the league this season, having accumulated a total of 165 points, averaging 20.6 points per game. He trails only Filip Barović from FMP, who leads the league with an average of 21.4 points per game.
Career Highlights and Recent Developments
Mihailović’s journey in basketball has seen him transition through various teams. After being released by Budućnost Voli in the summer of 2021 due to contract negotiations that did not reach an agreement, he joined Zadar and has since made a significant impact. This past summer, he also announced his retirement from the Montenegro national team following the European Championship.
Before his time at Zadar, Mihailović enjoyed success with Mornar and Budućnost, where he won four Montenegrin championship titles and three national cup trophies during his initial tenure from 2010 to 2014. His career has taken him across Europe, including stints in Germany, Belgium, Poland, and Belarus, contributing to his extensive experience and skill set.
In Belgium, he achieved a notable double crown with Oostende and was named MVP of the Belgian PBL league while playing for Okapi. His record-setting performance during the 2021/22 season at Mornar, where he scored 46 points in a single ABA League game against Mega, set a high standard in the league.
Mihailović’s recent achievements underscore not only his individual talent but also the resilience he has shown throughout his career. As he continues to perform at such a high level, basketball fans and analysts alike will be eager to see how he and Zadar progress in the ongoing season.
