Sandy Park Christmas Lights Switch-On Set for December 6
The date for the annual Sandy Park Road Christmas Lights switch-on in Brislington has been officially announced for 2025. The cherished community event will take place on Saturday, December 6, and is expected to attract a large number of local residents eager to welcome the festive season.
Festivities will commence at 14:00 and continue until 18:00. Organisers have posted the announcement on the official Sandy Park Locals and Traders Facebook page, encouraging community members to participate in the holiday cheer.
To maintain this beloved tradition, organisers are calling for donations to support the event. They have launched a fundraising campaign through a JustGiving page, aiming to raise £2,500 to cover costs related to the lights, including bulb replacement and testing. As of October 16, the fundraiser has raised £485 towards its goal.
In their appeal, organisers stated, “The Sandy Park Road Christmas Light Switch-On has become a much-loved tradition for our Brislington community. Every year, families, friends, and neighbours come together to celebrate the start of the festive season with sparkling lights, festive cheer, and community spirit.”
The post highlights the importance of community support, noting that the Christmas lights are funded entirely by local residents and traders, with no external funding involved. To streamline contributions, organisers have shifted to an online donation model.
“Every single donation, big or small, will go directly towards lighting up Sandy Park Road and keeping this wonderful tradition alive for everyone to enjoy,” the post continued. “Your support means more than just twinkling lights. It means joy for children, festive spirit for families, and a thriving local high street at Christmas time.”
Residents interested in supporting the event can find the JustGiving page linked through the Sandy Park Facebook page. As the countdown to Christmas begins, the community is encouraged to come together to ensure the lights shine brightly for all to enjoy.
