Will Kirk Embraces New Family Life and Shifts Priorities
Will Kirk, known for his expertise as an antique furniture restorer on the BBC’s popular series The Repair Shop, has revealed a significant shift in his priorities following a recent family move. After spending nearly four decades in London, he and his family have settled into a new home in Surrey, which he describes as a “sanctuary.”
In a candid interview with House Beautiful magazine, Kirk shared insights into his evolving family life. He now resides with his wife, Polly Snowdon, and their two young children—a three-year-old daughter and a one-year-old son. The family has been living in their new house for approximately 18 months, a change that has greatly impacted their lifestyle.
Kirk spoke about the transition from a small flat in London, where they lived for seven years, to their current spacious residence. “I literally love my life now,” he said. He explained how having children has altered his perspective, stating, “I thought that’s where everything was, but having kids changes your priorities. Now we’ve got more space and fresher air.”
Home as a Sanctuary
The new home is not just a change of address for Kirk; it has become a vital part of his life. He emphasized the importance of having a space where he can unwind and connect with his family after a busy work schedule. “Home is my sanctuary,” he noted, highlighting the value of family time amidst his professional commitments.
Prior to his role on The Repair Shop, Kirk worked tirelessly, often putting in long hours and working seven days a week. However, his current work-life balance allows him to finish his day at a reasonable time and enjoy quality moments with his family. “This balance is really important,” he reflected, acknowledging the contrast to his previous routine.
Kirk’s commitment to family extends beyond just immediate responsibilities. During a recent appearance on Love Your Weekend with gardening expert Alan Titchmarsh, he hinted at the possibility of expanding his family further. “At the moment, I have got it right. Until the next child comes along!” he quipped, suggesting that while he is content now, he remains open to the future.
Upcoming Projects
Fans of Kirk can catch him on the upcoming episode of The Repair Shop, airing on BBC One on October 29, 2024, from 20:00 to 21:00. As he embraces this new chapter in both his personal and professional life, Kirk continues to balance his passion for restoration with the joys of fatherhood.
His journey highlights the transformative power of family and the importance of prioritizing personal well-being alongside a successful career.
