Claudia Winkleman Supports Alex Kingston on Emotional Strictly Night
Presenter Claudia Winkleman provided emotional support to actress Alex Kingston during a poignant moment on Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday evening. Kingston, who is partnered with dancer Johannes Radebe, became visibly upset during her pre-performance video package and while awaiting the judges’ scores. She shared that she had faced a particularly challenging week and expressed her fears about disappointing those who support her.
As the judges delivered their feedback, Kingston’s emotions surfaced again. Winkleman stepped in to console her, emphasizing the warmth and camaraderie among the cast. “Alex, you know we love you and since this has begun, what my favourite thing is, I see you on a Friday and I go, ‘How is it and do you love it?’ and yesterday you went, ‘No, not very much,'” Winkleman said, as quoted by Wales Online.
Kingston, struggling to hold back tears, responded, “Yes. I know. The thing is, I’m numerically dyslexic, so I can’t count.” Winkleman acknowledged the challenge Kingston faced, stating, “And that’s quite difficult.” The presenter reassured her, “I know, and I don’t want you to be sad because you were excellent and….” Noticing Kingston’s distress, Winkleman encouraged collective support from the audience and fellow contestants, urging, “No, everyone get in.”
Kingston shared her feelings about the performance, stating, “No, but I should love this dance because it’s, you know, it’s drama, but it’s just that I’m used to dancing to lyrics.” Despite her tears, she tried to maintain composure, repeating, “It’s fine, it’s fine.”
The emotional exchange highlighted the pressures contestants face on the popular dance competition, which has captivated audiences across the UK. Strictly Come Dancing continues to air on BBC iPlayer, showcasing not only the dance performances but also the personal journeys of its participants.
The moment serves as a reminder that reality shows can evoke strong emotions and that behind the glitz and glamour, contestants often grapple with personal challenges. As the series progresses, viewers are likely to see more of these heartfelt moments, adding depth to the entertainment experience.
