Newcastle Christmas Market Opens with Thrilling Crowds and Festive Drinks
The Newcastle Christmas Market 2025 opened its doors to eager visitors on December 2, 2025, attracting large crowds braving the chilly weather for a festive experience. As the market commenced with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:00, the aroma of mulled wine filled the air, drawing in both locals and tourists alike.
Queues Form for Festive Beverages
At one of the popular Drink Huttes located at Monument, a significant queue quickly formed as visitors lined up to enjoy their first taste of festive beverages. Many attendees were in search of warm mulled wine, while others opted for a pint of beer to enjoy despite the freezing conditions. The market’s opening day featured not only drinks but also live carols, enhancing the festive atmosphere.
By the afternoon, the demand for mulled wine and other drinks had led to long lines at both Drink Huttes, with another located at the Family Village in Old Eldon Square. Customers eagerly awaited a selection of drinks, including boozy hot chocolate and the option to upgrade their pints to steins for an additional cost.
