DWP Offers £441 Support Payment for 57 Health Conditions
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is encouraging individuals with specific health conditions to explore their eligibility for the Attendance Allowance, a crucial support payment. This benefit is available to those who are physically or mentally disabled and are of state pension age or older. The DWP identifies a total of **57 medical conditions** that may qualify applicants for a payment of **£441** every four weeks.
Attendance Allowance is designed for individuals whose disabilities require substantial care from another person. The payment amount is determined by the level of care needed, allowing recipients to receive financial support tailored to their circumstances. Notably, this allowance is unaffected by income or savings, making it accessible to those in need.
Payment Rates and Recent Increases
As of April 2024, the Attendance Allowance rates increased by **1.7%** in line with inflation adjustments. The current rates for the **2025/26 financial year** are **£110.40 per week** for the higher rate and **£73.90 per week** for the lower rate. Payments are issued every four weeks, totaling approximately **£441** over that period.
The lower rate applies if a recipient requires regular assistance or constant supervision during the day, or oversight at night. The higher rate is granted to those needing help or supervision both day and night, or if a healthcare professional has indicated a life expectancy of less than **12 months**.
Eligible Health Conditions
The DWP provides a comprehensive list of common health issues that may qualify individuals for the Attendance Allowance. Some of the conditions include:
– Arthritis
– Heart disease
– Respiratory disorders
– Diabetes mellitus
– Neurological diseases, such as multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease
– Dementia
– Severe mental impairment
This list highlights just a portion of the eligible conditions; the DWP encourages individuals to review their specific circumstances to determine eligibility.
For those interested in applying, the process can be completed by mail. Applicants can obtain the necessary forms, which include guidance on how to fill them out, and send them to **Freepost DWP Attendance Allowance**—no postal code or stamp is required. Should assistance be needed in different formats, such as braille or large print, individuals can reach the Attendance Allowance helpline at **0800 731 0122**, operating from **08:00 to 18:00**.
The DWP’s outreach aims to ensure that those who are eligible do not miss out on vital financial support, helping to improve the quality of life for many facing health challenges.
