The cast of the upcoming musical Shake It Up Baby! visited the Liverpool Beatles Museum on September 25, 2023, ahead of the show’s world premiere at the Epstein Theatre later this month. The musical will celebrate the iconic band, featuring live rock ‘n’ roll music performed on stage.

As part of their preparations, the actors took a break from rehearsals to explore one of the largest collections of Beatles memorabilia in the world. The museum, located on Mathew Street, showcases a rich assortment of artifacts from the band’s early years, including Pete Best’s drumkit and a guitar once played by a teenage George Harrison in Hamburg.

The cast, comprised of Michael Hawkins as John Lennon, Guy Freeman as Paul McCartney, James Jackson as George Harrison, and Nick Sheedy, who portrays both Pete Best and Ringo Starr, donned their period costumes for the visit. Their appearance attracted attention from fans who flocked to the area, eager to catch a glimpse of the actors celebrating the legacy of the Fab Four.

In an interview, playwright Ian Salmon expressed excitement for the musical’s debut, which runs from September 26 to October 11, 2023. “We aim to bring the energy and spirit of The Beatles to life in a vibrant and engaging way,” he stated.

The cast’s visit to the museum not only allowed them to connect with the band’s history but also provided an opportunity to engage with fans. The atmosphere on Mathew Street was electric, filled with laughter and conversation as visitors celebrated their shared admiration for The Beatles.

As Shake It Up Baby! prepares for its premiere, the anticipation among fans continues to grow. The musical is expected to be a tribute to the enduring influence of The Beatles and a celebration of their timeless music that continues to resonate with audiences worldwide.
