Only Men Aloud Embarks on Exciting 25th Anniversary Tour

The renowned Welsh choir Only Men Aloud is set to celebrate its 25th anniversary with a tour across Wales, commencing later this month. The choir gained fame after winning the 2008 series of BBC One’s talent show, Last Choir Standing, and has since become a beloved fixture in the music scene.
Celebrating a Milestone
As the choir prepares for its extensive tour, which includes performances in cities such as Cardiff, Swansea, and Aberystwyth, excitement is palpable among its dedicated fans. The tour, described by the choir as a “celebration tour,” will also feature a series of Christmas performances in December, adding to the festive spirit of the season.
Among the choir’s most passionate supporters is Amanda from Preston. She has been following Only Men Aloud since their television debut and has a striking tattoo of the band across her back, which includes the signatures of its members. Amanda’s enthusiasm extends beyond mere fandom; in 2016, she undertook a challenging hike up Pen Y Fan to raise funds for the charity Shelter, motivated by the promise of a few songs at the summit.
A Journey Through Music and Memories
Reflecting on their journey, Craig Yates, an original member and now the Creative Director of the choir, shared insights into the group’s evolution. “We’ve all got jobs and responsibilities now,” Yates stated, “but what a hobby to have! We’ve known each other so long that we can drop easily back into song.” The camaraderie within the group has allowed them to navigate the challenges of adult life while keeping their passion for music alive.
Over the years, Only Men Aloud has enjoyed significant milestones, including performances at prestigious events such as the openings of the Welsh Assembly and the Millennium Stadium, as well as appearances for the Queen and at the 2012 Olympics opening ceremony. Craig reminisced about these surreal experiences, saying, “It’s only when you stop and take stock that you realize what an amazing time it has been. There are far too many highlights.”
The upcoming tour will kick off at New Theatre in Cardiff on September 27, 2023, with tickets available on their official website. As the choir embarks on this celebratory journey, audiences can expect an unforgettable blend of music, nostalgia, and community spirit.
With their rich history and enduring appeal, Only Men Aloud continues to inspire fans across generations, reminding everyone of the power of music to bring people together.
