As anticipation grows for the new season of Strictly Come Dancing, contestant La Voix has confirmed that she has not spoken to fellow performer Tayce, the winner of the recent Christmas special. Fans were disappointed to learn that Tayce, who triumphed in the festive edition, will not be part of the main series lineup this year.

Tayce, celebrated for her impressive performance during the Christmas episode, had many supporters hoping for her inclusion in the regular competition. Instead, Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, who also participated in the holiday special, has been selected to join the new series. La Voix, a prominent figure in the drag community, will be one of the fifteen celebrities competing for the coveted Glitterball Trophy this season.

When asked about her communication with Tayce, La Voix shared with The Sun, “I haven’t [spoken to her], I know I’ve never met Tayce. But I’m hoping that some of that winning glitter sort of sprinkles down on me this season. Because she did amazingly, to win the show; it was incredible.”

Tayce, who partnered with professional dancer Kai Widdrington during the holiday special, delivered a captivating Cha-Cha-Cha to Kylie Minogue’s song “100 Degrees.” The judges were thoroughly impressed, awarding the duo a perfect score of 40—the only couple to achieve this milestone in the competition.

After the official lineup for this year’s series was announced, Tayce shared her feelings on social media, posting, “guess I was too much,” accompanied by a glitterball emoji. Back in December, sources indicated that the 30-year-old performer was highly regarded by BBC executives for the main show, particularly after her standout performance.

According to insiders, there was strong interest from the production team in having a drag artist featured on the show. One source noted, “Strictly have long wanted a drag artist on the show, and Tayce has exceeded everyone’s expectations. She was an incredible competitor, and the viewers clearly loved her. Tayce is a shoo-in for the main show in the autumn now and will be approached in the New Year about taking part.”

Tayce gained widespread recognition through her participation in the second series of Drag Race UK, where she finished as a joint runner-up alongside Bimini Bon Boulash. She was succeeded by Lawrence Chaney. La Voix, whose real name is Christopher Dennis, was also a runner-up on the sixth series of the show, competing against Kyran Thrax. Before her time on Drag Race, La Voix showcased her talents as a participant on the eighth series of Britain’s Got Talent in 2014 and appeared in Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie in 2016.

This season of Strictly Come Dancing features a star-studded lineup, including celebrities such as Vicky Pattison, Dani Dyer, Thomas Skinner, and Balvinder Sopal. The new series is set to premiere next weekend, promising an exciting competition filled with captivating performances and memorable moments.
