Thieves Foiled in Van Heist by Quick-Thinking Resident

Two men attempting to steal a van from a driveway in Alderton, Tewkesbury, were thwarted by a vigilant resident in the early hours of September 16, 2025. At approximately 02:34, the individuals, wearing balaclavas, approached a property on Beckford Road. Their plan quickly unraveled when the resident spotted them and chased them off the premises.

The suspects fled the scene and drove away in a grey Vauxhall Insignia, which police suspect was operating with cloned license plates. In response to the incident, Gloucestershire Police have issued a community alert, urging anyone with information about the attempted theft or any suspicious activity in the area to come forward. Citizens are encouraged to quote incident number 23 of September 16 when contacting the police.

Recent Burglary Incidents in Cheltenham

This attempted van theft is not an isolated incident. Gloucestershire Police have reported several burglaries in the Cheltenham area, including one in Arkle Close occurring between September 8 and September 18. During this event, the locks on the rear patio doors were drilled, and a thorough search of drawers and cupboards was conducted; however, nothing appears to have been stolen. This incident has been logged as incident number 130 of 14/09/2025.

Another burglary involved unknown offenders who accessed a roof terrace and forced open a door in Cleeve Hill between 18:30 on September 12 and noon on September 13. This incident resulted in the theft of approximately £800 worth of power tools. Additionally, a wheelbarrow believed to be used in the burglary was discovered in nearby fields, and this case is recorded as incident number 256 of 13/09/2025.

A sentimental train set was reported stolen from a residence on Farmfield Road between 17:30 and 19:00 on September 15. Residents are advised to be vigilant and report any suspicious behavior. This incident is documented as incident number 432 of 15/09/2025.
