The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has announced plans to operate a total of 7,754 special buses to accommodate the increased travel demand during the upcoming Dasara and Bathukamma festivals. These services will begin on September 20, 2023, and continue until October 2, 2023, ensuring accessibility for thousands of passengers.

TGSRTC Executive Director (Operations) PV Munishekhar indicated that the special bus services will commence from several key locations in Hyderabad. Notable departure points include Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS), JBS, Uppal Bus Stand, Dilsukh Nagar, LB Nagar, and Aaramghar. The buses will serve routes not only within the state but also to neighboring regions, including Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Karnataka.

In preparation for the expected surge in passengers, TGSRTC has issued directives to ensure a sufficient number of buses are deployed at each location. Munishekhar emphasized the importance of meeting the travel needs of the public during the festive season, which is typically marked by heavy footfall at bus stations.

To address concerns regarding bus fares during this period, TGSRTC clarified that fare adjustments will only apply to special buses operating specifically between September 20-27, September 30-October 1, and October 5-6. The corporation reassured the public that regular services will not experience any changes in fares during these dates.

In a statement, TGSRTC management responded to what they termed “propaganda” regarding fare increases for all bus services, asserting that such claims are unfounded. The corporation aims to maintain transparency and ensure that passengers are well-informed about any fare revisions.

As the festive season approaches, TGSRTC remains committed to facilitating travel for festival-goers, highlighting their focus on efficiency and reliability in transportation services. Passengers are encouraged to plan their journeys in advance to ensure a smooth travel experience during these celebratory days.
