Editing Blunder Sparks Outrage Among Strictly Come Dancing Fans
Viewers of the popular BBC dance competition, Strictly Come Dancing, expressed their frustration over a notable editing oversight during the show’s recent launch. The first episode of the 2025 series introduced 15 celebrities set to compete, including Amber Davies, who stepped in at the last minute for Dani Dyer. Dyer had to withdraw from the competition due to a fractured ankle sustained during rehearsals.
As the opening credits rolled, fans quickly noticed that Dyer’s image still appeared alongside her intended partner, Nikita Kuzmin. This led to a flurry of comments on social media. One viewer remarked, “Okay so they didn’t have time to put Amber in the titles yet,” while another pointed out the awkwardness of Dyer still being featured. Supporters of Dyer also expressed their disappointment, with messages like, “Gutted for Dani, hope she comes back next year,” flooding social media platforms.
Dyer, a winner of Love Island, announced her withdrawal on March 1, 2025, after experiencing a fall during rehearsal. She shared her experience with her followers, stating, “I thought I had rolled my foot but it swelled up badly over the weekend. After an MRI scan yesterday, it turns out I have fractured my ankle.” Dyer added, “Apparently doing the quickstep on a fracture is not advisable, and the doctors have said I am not allowed to dance, so I’ve had to pull out of the show. To say I’m heartbroken is the biggest understatement.”
Kuzmin, her former partner, was equally disheartened by the news. He took to social media to express his sadness, stating, “So so gutted to have finished our journey before it even properly started.” He reflected on their brief time together, saying, “The amount of laughs and fun we had in this short time was unbelievable. Really loved our partnership.”
In the wake of Dyer’s injury, Amber Davies found herself thrust into the spotlight. Describing her experience of joining the show on such short notice, she stated, “This has been the craziest 24 hours of my life.” Promising to give her best performance, she noted, “I’ve watched Strictly with my family since I was younger, and to now be part of the show is a dream come true.”
Despite the abrupt change, Dyer offered her support to Davies, posting on Instagram, “Good luck babe, you will be amazing.” As Strictly Come Dancing continues to air on BBC iPlayer, viewers are sure to tune in to see how the competition unfolds and how Davies adapts to her new role. The unexpected circumstances surrounding Dyer’s exit and Davies’ entry have added an intriguing layer to this year’s series, keeping audiences engaged and eager for what comes next.
