Texas Designer Earnest Diaz Unveils Cowardly Lion Cape at Oz Museum

Celebrated Texas fashion designer Earnest Diaz is garnering international recognition for his innovative artistry and storytelling. Following the successful debut of his “Thankful” artwork series at the SwissArtExpo, his creations are now showcased at the Art Bar Granada in St. George, Granada, until September 30, 2025. This exhibition will transition to the prestigious Paris Carrousel Louvre from October 17 to 19, 2025, allowing global audiences to experience his evocative work.

As part of his extensive engagement in the art world, Diaz is also preparing for a prominent appearance at OZtoberfest in Wamego, Kansas, on October 4, 2025. At this event, he will unveil a meticulously crafted replica of the Cowardly Lion’s King of the Forest Cape. This remarkable project required 622 hours of hand sewing and an additional week to perfect its intricate details. “This is a monumental moment for Earnest House of Diaz,” Diaz stated. “The global resonance of the ‘Thankful’ series and the opportunity to present this passion-driven project at OZtoberfest are deeply fulfilling milestones.”

A Lifelong Pursuit of Creativity

Diaz’s creative journey began at the tender age of five, driven by a childhood accident that sparked his interest in sewing. By twelve, he was designing clothing, jewelry, and shoes while conceptualizing “Unity,” a groundbreaking reimagining of wedding traditions for LGBT couples. His early musical training, which included piano lessons from age six and participation in school marching bands, provided a robust foundation for his multifaceted career.

In 1994, Diaz transitioned into interior design, working with notable clients, including Olympic gold medalist Carl Lewis. By 1999, he fully committed to fashion design. In 2006, he published his first manuscript, “Thankful,” which has received over 230 accolades and inspired the touring artwork series. His second project, “Unity – New Traditions for LGBT Nuptials,” expanded into music, yielding two award-winning songs and a journal that has garnered three awards. Additionally, Diaz composed music for an animated Greek spy film, which has won six international awards.
