Altay Bayindir displayed a positive attitude following Manchester United’s 2-0 victory over Sunderland, despite being dropped in favor of teammate Senne Lammens. The 27-year-old goalkeeper had started the previous six Premier League matches but was replaced after a disappointing performance in a recent 3-1 defeat against Brentford. The decision by manager Ruben Amorim to bench Bayindir comes shortly after the arrival of Lammens from Royal Antwerp in a transfer deal valued at £21.6 million.

Lammens, 23, made his starting debut against Sunderland and not only kept a clean sheet but also showcased a commanding presence that exceeded Bayindir’s performances this season. The young goalkeeper received accolades from supporters and Amorim alike, marking a promising start to his tenure at Manchester United.

On social media, Bayindir expressed his support for the team by posting the match score, accompanied by a red heart emoji and a strong arm emoji. His good spirits were further evident when he was seen congratulating Lammens with a hug on the pitch after the match concluded.

Amorim explained his decision to rotate the squad, emphasizing the importance of having all players prepared for different opponents. “Everybody has to be ready to play,” he said. “We need to win this game; every opponent is different, so we try to find the best characteristics to win every match.”

Reflecting on Lammens’ debut performance, Amorim told BBC Sport, “Senne did really well. We were a competitive and adult team today. We need to win these games with a clean sheet. Good for us.”

Mason Mount, who scored the opening goal of the match, also praised Lammens’ performance. He noted, “He was solid. When we were under pressure, the option was Ben [Sesko], and we worked off that. Buzzing for him; everyone was around him today. It can be tough making your first start, and I felt that today, so we keep moving forward.”

The victory over Sunderland marks a positive turn for Manchester United as they continue to adapt to their new squad dynamics. Fans will be keen to see how Lammens builds on this successful debut and how Bayindir responds to the challenge ahead.
