A beloved restaurant in Glasgow, known for its renowned curries, will close its doors permanently after four decades of service. Curry House, located in the Shettleston area, is set to shut down on September 27, 2023. The establishment has been a staple in the local dining scene since it opened in the 1980s, attracting loyal patrons with its celebrated curry and satay dishes.
In a heartfelt announcement shared on Facebook, the owners expressed their gratitude for the support they have received over the years. They stated, “After 40 amazing years, we will be closing Curry House for good on Saturday, September 27. We can’t thank you enough for all the love, support, and memories you’ve shared with us. It’s been an incredible journey, and we’ll miss seeing you around our tables.”
The restaurant has developed a devoted following, with many customers taking to social media to share their sadness over the closure. One patron commented, “You have always been there! The sign that’s never changed always brings back the ’80s for me. Sad to learn this. Fab food and thank you.” Another shared, “Can’t believe this is my favourite restaurant. Been going here for years, and my parents even longer before I came along.”
As the final day approaches, the owners have invited customers to visit and say goodbye. The outpouring of support from the community highlights the restaurant’s significant impact on local culture and dining. Many patrons have fond memories associated with their experiences at Curry House, with one stating, “Loads of good memories in your restaurant. It will be missed by many.”
The closure of Curry House marks the end of an era for many in the Shettleston community. The establishment’s reputation for quality food and welcoming atmosphere has made it a cherished spot for both long-time residents and newcomers alike. As the final day draws near, the owners hope to celebrate the restaurant’s legacy with those who have made it a part of their lives.
