Man Charged with Causing Death in A10 Crash Involving Multiple Vehicles

A 23-year-old man has been charged following a fatal accident on the A10 that resulted in one death and serious injuries to another individual. The incident occurred at approximately 07:10 on August 15, 2023, between the villages of Stretham and Chittering. A 53-year-old man, who was driving a Mini, was pronounced dead at the scene after colliding with a lorry and two other vehicles.

The crash involved a Mini, a Seat, a Jaguar, and a lorry, highlighting the severity of the incident. A passenger in the Mini sustained serious injuries and was transported to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where they remained as of August 18.

Adam Bates, of Juniper Drive in Chatteris, has been charged with several offenses. These include causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and driving without insurance. Bates appeared at Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court on August 16, where he was remanded in custody. He is scheduled to appear at Cambridge Crown Court on September 15.
