Newbury Job Fair Set for September 26; Employers Encouraged to Participate

The upcoming job fair in Newbury, organized by local MP Lee Dillon, aims to connect employers with job seekers on September 26, 2024. Scheduled to run from 10:00 to 13:00, the event will be held at the West Berkshire Council offices located on Market Street. This initiative is supported by the West Berkshire Council, the Department for Work and Pensions, and Job Centre Plus.
During a recent announcement, Mr. Dillon expressed the importance of the event, stating, “We know local businesses are looking to grow, and local people are looking for the right opportunities.” He emphasized that participation from various sectors, including hospitality, retail, professional services, and logistics, is crucial. “We’re calling on employers across the area to take a stand at the fair and connect directly with potential new employees,” he added.
The previous job fair held in January was deemed a success, highlighting the benefits of in-person engagement. Dillon noted, “Our first job fair in January was a roaring success and showed the value of bringing people together face-to-face. This September, we want to go even bigger.”
Employers interested in showcasing their available positions can reach out via email at [email protected]. Attendee bookings will open on September 1, 2024, providing an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking new roles or a career change to meet local employers.
To enhance the experience, the event will be organized into three distinct waves throughout the morning, allowing attendees ample time to interact meaningfully with each employer present. This structure aims to facilitate in-depth discussions between job seekers and employers, fostering connections that could lead to new job placements.
The September job fair represents a significant opportunity for both local businesses and residents. By bringing together a diverse range of industries and prospective employees, it aims to strengthen the local job market and support economic growth in the Newbury area.
