Investment in the popular Seven Lakes Country Park in North Lincolnshire is set to transform it into a premier leisure destination. The leisure firm Unity Holidays has announced plans for a significant £9 million investment aimed at enhancing the park’s offerings and creating over 120 permanent jobs, along with up to 200 seasonal positions.

Unity Holidays, which acquired the 210-acre resort located in Crowle, near Scunthorpe, just four weeks ago, envisions a comprehensive refurbishment of the park’s facilities. The company already operates other leisure sites, including Unity Beach in Somerset and Skirlington Coast in East Yorkshire. Their ambitious plans for Seven Lakes include the introduction of a variety of new water-themed attractions to complement its ten freshwater lakes.

Plans Unveiled for New Attractions

The proposed developments feature a sailing school, paddleboarding, and an inflatable assault course, catering to the growing interest in water activities. Additionally, the park will introduce a spa and sauna, as well as facilities designed to promote cold water swimming, including ice water hot tubs.

According to Dermot King, CEO of Unity Holidays, the investment reflects the company’s commitment to enhancing the visitor experience. “Seven Lakes is a four-week-old business to us, and our attraction to the region is because we think there’s a gap in the market for that region,” he stated. King highlighted existing activities like fishing and jet skiing while emphasizing the new offerings that will draw more visitors.

One of the standout features of the investment is the creation of a stage on the lake, taking advantage of a natural amphitheatre at one end. This will allow for live entertainment during the summer months, further enriching the park’s appeal.

Aiming for a Comprehensive Upgrade

Unity Holidays plans to refurbish the existing bar and restaurant area significantly. King noted the intention to elevate the food offerings, indicating that “experienced customers are prepared to pay for and want a better food proposition.” To achieve this, the company will likely bring in experienced chefs to enhance the culinary experience.

In addition to the food services, plans include the development of indoor and outdoor swimming pools, lounging spaces, and a pavilion theatre, all designed to create a vibrant atmosphere for guests. King expressed confidence in the project, stating, “I can’t imagine there are other people investing this sort of money in the region.”

The investment in Seven Lakes is part of a broader commitment, with plans to allocate around £20 million to improvements at the nearby Skirlington Coast. This reflects Unity Holidays’ dedication to bolstering the staycation scene in the region.

King concluded that the primary challenge moving forward is securing the necessary permissions to begin construction. He emphasized the potential of the Unity brand to significantly contribute to the local economy, positioning Seven Lakes as a key player in the area’s leisure sector.

As the plans for Seven Lakes Country Park take shape, the local community and prospective visitors will undoubtedly be watching closely, eager to see the transformation of this North Lincolnshire gem.
