SpudBros Launches Liverpool Store with 1p Jacket Potatoes

TikTok sensations SpudBros officially opened their new store in Liverpool on September 4, 2023, celebrating the launch with a unique promotion of selling hundreds of jacket potatoes for just 1p. The brothers, Jacob Nelson, 29, and Harley Nelson, 22, attracted a crowd of enthusiastic fans eager to experience their popular culinary creations.
The store, located in a unit previously occupied by Costa Coffee, is expected to draw significant foot traffic, reflecting the duo’s growing popularity. With over five million followers across various social media platforms, the brothers have captivated audiences with their engaging videos, showcasing their mobile shop—affectionately referred to as their tram—where they serve up delicious baked potatoes topped with customer favorites like cheese, baked beans, and chilli.
As part of the grand opening festivities, the brothers hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony that included a DJ set and exclusive merchandise. Fans waited for hours in line, highlighting the excitement surrounding the event. Jacob expressed his amazement at the turnout, stating, “To see the loyalty of customers coming for a spud, queuing for hours, is crazy.”
Harley emphasized that the focus is on the product rather than their personal brand, saying, “A lot of people think it is about us. But we have a store in London and it’s busier than Preston, where we are full-time. They aren’t coming to see us. Ninety percent of the people are coming for the baked potato.”
The anticipation for the store has been building since the brothers hinted at their plans on social media. Following a visit to Liverpool for Radio 1’s Big Weekend, they decided to establish a permanent presence in the city. In a TikTok video, Nina, Jacob’s fiancée, mentioned the search for the ideal location, which ultimately led to the opening in Liverpool.
Potential customers began queuing as early as the previous night, with many eager to be among the first to taste the renowned jacket potatoes. Notably, Bradley Klimly, a 27-year-old from New Brighton, camped out for nearly 12 hours to secure his place at the front of the line. He shared his excitement, saying, “I’ve never tried it before, this will be my first.”
Families traveled great distances for the occasion, including the Quilton siblings from Dundalk, Ireland. Jamie Lee Quilton, 22, and Angel Quilton, 17, along with their mother and Jamie’s girlfriend, flew in specifically to sample the offerings. Hazel Lynch, 24, noted, “We’ve seen it on TikTok. It looks unreal on TikTok, so we came over.”
As the event unfolded, it became clear that the SpudBros brand continues to thrive, driven by the quality of their product and the engaging personalities behind it. With their Liverpool store now open, the brothers are well-positioned to become a staple in the local food scene while further expanding their influence across social media.
