Stena Line and Irish Ferries Collaborate on Irish Sea Routes
Stena Line has formalized a temporary agreement with Irish Ferries to share freight and passenger capacity on key routes across the Irish Sea. This strategic collaboration is designed to facilitate essential dry-docking of vessels while maintaining service continuity and reliability for travelers and freight customers. The agreement will commence on November 20, 2023, and continue until December 4, 2023.
During this period, Stena Line will manage the service connecting Dublin and Holyhead, allocating space for Irish Ferries customers. Concurrently, Irish Ferries will provide capacity on the Rosslare to Pembroke route for Stena Line passengers and freight. Customers traveling with Stena Line will be supported by personnel at Pembroke Port, ensuring a seamless transition during this temporary arrangement.
This collaboration also allows Stena Line to conduct planned maintenance at Fishguard Port. The company emphasized that this initiative underscores its long-term commitment to enhancing service quality and operational resilience.
Johan Edelman, Trade Director for Irish Sea South at Stena Line, stated, “We’re delighted to announce this temporary operational model that safeguards continuity of service for our freight and travel customers during essential maintenance and upgrades to our vessels. This collaboration strengthens the resilience of our operations across the Irish Sea and ensures we maintain service reliability.”
Edelman highlighted the focus on customer needs, explaining that the development of this model is a direct response to ensuring the smooth operation of services. Stena Line plans to keep customers informed about any changes to travel schedules, and bookings can be made directly through the Stena Line website.
As this partnership unfolds, both companies aim to minimize disruption for their customers while reinforcing their commitment to quality service across the Irish Sea routes.
