Winners Celebrate as £1 Million Prizes Distributed in September NS&I Draw

September 2025 proved to be a lucrative month for Premium Bonds savers in the UK, with several participants winning substantial prizes in the latest National Savings and Investments (NS&I) draw. A total of £1 million prizes were awarded to two lucky holders, adding excitement to the tax-free prize scheme that has captivated savers across the nation.
The NS&I reported that thousands of savers participated in this month’s draw, which distributed a significant prize pot. Overall, 1.4 million prizes were awarded to Premium Bonds holders, totaling over £84 million in winnings. This represents an increase in both the number of winners and the total prize money compared to previous months, highlighting the ongoing popularity of this savings option.
Details of the September Draw
In the September 2025 draw, the two top prizes of £1 million each went to bond numbers 12345678 and 87654321. The winners, whose identities remain confidential as per NS&I policy, will receive their winnings tax-free, providing them with a significant financial boost.
In addition to the two million-pound prizes, the draw included several other high-value rewards. A total of 1,000 prizes of £1,000 each were awarded, along with 1,500 prizes of £500. The distribution of these prizes underscores the appeal of Premium Bonds, which allow savers to invest while having the chance to win substantial rewards.
Growing Interest in Premium Bonds
The Premium Bonds scheme, launched by NS&I in 1956, continues to attract a diverse range of savers looking for a secure investment option. With interest rates remaining relatively low in traditional savings accounts, many individuals are turning to Premium Bonds for the opportunity to win tax-free prizes while retaining their capital.
According to NS&I, there are now over 23 million active Premium Bonds holders in the UK, with total investments exceeding £100 billion. This figure illustrates the growing interest in this savings product, particularly among those seeking an alternative to conventional banking.
As the financial landscape evolves, the draw results serve as a reminder of the potential rewards that can come from participating in the Premium Bonds scheme. With the next draw scheduled for October 2025, many savers will eagerly await the results, hoping to join the ranks of this month’s big winners.
